Helping one person may not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.

About me

I have always been drawn to working with and supporting people, and have previously worked in educational and care settings.  When I discovered counselling it felt as though this was something that really fitted with me, where I could make a real difference in people's lives and empower them to find out what was true for them, and support them to follow their own path.

I completed my counselling training, gaining a Diploma in Counselling, and then continued on to do my Psychotherapy training in Gestalt.  This is a humanistic way of working, and means that the relationship between us is of utmost importance.  So I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space, where you will be heard and understood, and are able to explore whatever you need.  (See more about how I work on the counselling services page).

I am an Accredited Member of the BACP and abide by their code of ethics.  Please note: not every BACP member is accredited.  As an Accredited Member I have gone through a rigorous process and have achieved a substantial level of training and experience that has been approved by the BACP.

I am very passionate about and believe in the process of counselling, having seen the positive benefits to numerous clients over the past 18 years.  I am committed to supporting you to work through your difficulties, and to help you gain self-awareness and clarity to find your best way forward.

Work history / experience

I have worked as a therapist in private practice in Birmingham since qualifying in 2005.  I am also currently employed, and have worked for an NHS Trust for the past 14 years, providing counselling for staff members, delivering wellbeing workshops, and providing CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) support for traumatic incidences.  I have previously worked in University counselling services, and currently work for a number of Employee Assistance Programmes.

I am also a qualified teacher / tutor, and have taught in Further and Higher Education establishments for over 10 years, lecturing, and delivering counselling courses to adult learners up to diploma level.
